Blame it on the REIN

BLaMe it on the Rein or ReINDeEr!!!!!
Before Christmas break came the inevitable  day where every kid in the house was crying AND fighting AND at the edge of school assignment overload. Of course it was a day I was working so that made me feel even more helpless. We called an emergency family meeting. The main point that came out of the meeting was this,
" When things get spiraling out of control it can seem like EVERYTHING needs to changed. However, in reality ,it can really be just one or two things that need tweaked. "

When the kids heard this we decided to pick our top stressors and start with those and just see if we felt better.

 1) The kids decided they needed to skip their early morning seminary(religious) classes for a few days to get extra sleep AND needed to go to bed earlier instead of watching "Dog With A Blog".
2) One kid decided it was not EVERY class in school giving her trouble, but that it was one math class where the teacher was not approachable and even posted wrong answers. I talked with a school counselor and she is going to be meeting with this child to strategize.

3)One child was stressing over college applications so she just simply filled them out in one day so she could quit thinking about them so much.
4) My husband had been studying for recertification for his PA-C and he decided to exercise his muscles AFTER the test and not worry so much about eating during Christmas.
 5) I gave up my dream of making homemade bath bombs , jam or the popular cocoa jar for my neighbors, work family and church congregation and decided everyone is getting lifesavers instead.

 6) The best one---We redid the chore system with input from the kids and decided we would only do deep cleaning the day before relatives visited at Christmas and hid a lot of crap in the garage. If something was not 100 percent clean we would just tell them, "We felt sorry for Santa's reindeer outside in the cold so we let them in and they destroyed the house".

I am happy to report----

Two days later we have gotten the spirit of Christmas back....oh, AND we added a #7)
7) We are now too lazy to go out....  so....come on over to get your package of LIFE SAVIORS---they will be on the front stoop(If the reindeer did not eat them all)
