When Life Gives You Lemons

April 18, 2018 Last week sucked. I know some people don't like that word, but then I didn't like last week either so I needed an appropriate descriptive word. To combat the stress, I found myself outside more, craving the wind in my hair and the birds singing their sweet songs of joy in my ears. Being outside is paramount, as I have found over the years that this is how God communicates his love to me.  He sends flowers to brighten my day and mixes his palette of colors in the rays of the rising sun. Occasionally he even sends hidden mercy blessings that some might called coincidences.  To me, these things just show God can't always control who gets lemons,AKA "bad circumstances", but I have discovered he is a particularly wonderful connoisseur of lemonade.   My work week had been  trying,  going from one room saving a mom and baby from a rapid-fire abruption type labor, to the solemn room down the hall of loss.  Cheering one family on, while...

"What's Going On"

All these years later, and I am journaling again. I found some of my old journals a few weeks ago and realized there is no better platform for self-reflection or even healing than journaling. It seems strange to type rather than write with a pencil or pen, but honestly, since I had a TIA a few years ago, I prefer typing. The TIA happened on December 1st 2021 a few days after I had received my second COVID booster injection. The 1st booster injection I had had a small fever, tachycardia that came and went, and fluctuating blood pressures. I have talked to a few other nurses who have experienced this phenomenon, and the one thing we have in common is that we all have underlying clotting disorders. My TIA happened, and I am missing pieces of memory from those few days surrounding that event. It Came Upon A Midnight Clear

The presents, the stockings and rising early before the sun rose up trying to see Santa are all beloved memories from my youth. I LOVED Christmas and bought into the whole North Pole fantasy without a second thought. To a child, the magic and promise  of "good things happening to the world" was not so hard to buy into. Fresher from heaven and angels, as a child, I did not think it was unusual for one man to load up his sleigh and visit every single house on Christmas Eve.  Of course he knew my name and every other child's name on earth. I did not have trouble believing in a babe that was born in a manger either.  Why wouldn't the donkeys, sheep and cattle surround that place and worship their Heavenly King?The thought of a salutory star rising in the Eastern sky,   guiding wisemen and sheperds made perfect sense.
